U-Links Centre for Community-Based Research works at the intersection of academic field research and the communities, organizations, and government ministries that depend on it. We partnered with U-Links across several projects to produce educational videos documenting environmental research happening across Ontario's cottage country — from invasive species studies to water quality monitoring programs.
The challenge with this kind of content is taking complex, information-heavy concepts and presenting them in a digestible and easy-to-understand format — translating technical, field-based research into something that a lake association or a local councillor can engage with and act on. That means capturing both the science and the people behind it, supplemented with animation to make the information land clearly.
The final videos have been shared with lake associations, local organizations, government ministries, and the general public — helping bridge the gap between research and community action on issues that directly affect Ontario's natural spaces.
